O! but for the pickled fick of pate go I!

In preparation for this years' blockbusters, I dusted off my copy of Prince Caspian. I've read the series before and enjoyed them quite a lot. Well, I was nearly three quarters finished after an afternoon of reading and set it down somewhere in my apartment. Lo and behold, it is taken from me by a vile door vortex. Wherever I set it down, a vortex from another plane filled with unmatched socks, well-worn blankets and stuffed animals, gifts from in-laws, and countless pennies has opened and sucked it in. I have literally turned the apartment upsidedown looking for it. My upstairs neighbors are decidedly unhappy about that, but I set it right before bed time. I cleaned under the sofa, I've turned out all the cushions, searched in, on, and behind all the bookshelves... I even looked through the cupboards in the kitchen, though i've no idea how it could have gotten there. The book is simply gone. Poof!

Strike two for my week was on Wednesday morning, my cable/internet/telephone went out at about 9am. I called the cable people and they had a recorded message saying they were aware of an outage in the area and they'd fix it as soon as possible. Ok, that message ran throughout that day and most of the next. I called them and talked to an actual person and they said there was no record of an outage in the area, but they'd be happy to send someone out to check on it the next day. It turns out that the people upstairs (those who got upset with me turning the apartment upside-down) switched to Verizon FIOS and those FIOS people (when thinking they were unplugging their cable) "accidentally" unplugged our cable. Yup... unhappy.

I don't recall my other madness... but then we are all mad here.
